Alchemy Catering is your go-to Austin catering company (or at least, it should be) for a few different reasons, but perhaps none are more important than our commitment to catering to the unique requests of our clients.
While pretty much every caterer out there will tell you that they value customer service very highly, very few can tell you about the specific, tangible ways in which they put the client first.
At Alchemy, that’s not the case. Whether you are interested in wedding, corporate, or private event catering, we will take the time to listen to what you are looking for in terms of overall experience, menu items, and budget. We are flexible in all of these areas so that you get exactly what you want. What’s more, if you need some suggestions to make sure your event satisfies all of your guests, we are happy to help! This isn’t our first rodeo, and one of our favorite aspects of our work is collaborating with our clients to create a memorable night for everyone involved.
Long story short, we are flexible, experienced, and passionate about what we do here at Alchemy Catering!
After The Party – All About Austin
As the title of today’s blog already intimated, today’s post is a little bit different than our typical blog. Usually, we describe a particular catering service of ours in more detail, or we’ll take the opportunity to highlight a few of the many reasons to hire a professional caterer for your event — but in today’s blog we want to focus on our hometown of Austin, Texas.
It’s a beautiful place with plenty to offer locals and visitors alike. Perhaps you are coming into town for a loved one’s wedding or for business reasons. Regardless, if you are looking for a few great things to do in Austin, then this blog is for you!
The Congress Bridge Bats
Let’s start with an activity that is free, world-famous, and something you can do nine months out of the year. While not everyone loves the idea of observing bats, we strongly recommend checking out this spectacle. It happens to be one of Austin’s top tourist attractions for good reason; watching 1.5 million bats take flight from Congress Bridge during sunset is nothing short of marvelous. As a bonus, they help rid us of blood-sucking mosquitos, which is always a good thing.
Austin is in Texas hill country, making it an ideal place to check out the local wineries for some educational tasting. An arid climate coupled with the numerous valleys the local geography boasts is a recipe for delicious wines. We’d recommend checking out Austin Wine Tours to help you parse out which wineries you will visit. They’ll provide a list of the best Austin vineyards around, complete with transportation and a few personal touches that will make the day or evening one you won’t soon forget!
Austin Nature & Science Center
On the western edge of Zilker Park you will find the Austin Nature and Science Center (ANSC). Here the whole family will encounter nature exhibits, recreation resources, and education programs for adults and children alike! They’ve been open since 1960, and since then they’ve been working to provide engaging exhibits and activities to spread appreciation and awareness of the natural environment.
Plus, it’s free! Check out the Austin Nature & Science Center resource for more information!
Sheffield Education Center
While you are in the area, it’s worth your while to check out the Beverly S. Sheffield Education Center, featuring the Edwards Aquifer exhibit, among other rotating exhibits in the central rotunda.
The Edwards Aquifer Exhibit is a great educational activity because it reveals the inner workings of the aquifer via multimedia displays and interactive games. You even get to walk through a simulated limestone cave to unveil the mysteries of Barton Springs and the Edwards Aquifer! If you have young, inquisitive minds thirsty for knowledge, the Sheffield Education Center should be high on your list of must-see places in Austin!
The Caswell House
If you are a fan of the finer things, you’d be remiss if we failed to mention of one Austin’s classiest historical buildings, the Caswell House. The Victorian building is recognized as both a Texas Historic Landmark and a City of Austin Historic Landmark. Not only is the house worth visiting for its own sake, but it’s also among the most pristine venues for special events in Austin. Make sure you check it out if you get the opportunity!
The Driskill Hotel
Originally built for a cattle baron in the late 19th century (who promptly lost it in a card game soon after), The Driskill is a grand, vintage hotel in downtown Austin. For years it has been the place where social and political elite stayed and gathered. But you don’t have to be a guest to enjoy all it has to offer — its amenities include a beautiful lobby, a world-class bar, and the general old-fashioned, classic vibe it effortlessly gives. It’s worth stopping by for a drink if you are in the area!
We hope that you’ve enjoyed today’s change-of-pace blog as much as we liked compiling it for you! Whether you are an Austin native or you are planning your very first visit to the Lone Star State capital, we hope you add one or two of these ideas to your list!
